Hello Biktrix Family,
As some of you may be aware, there has been a large amount of rain in western British Columbia, Canada. This intense rainfall has caused severe flooding and mudslides in the area. First off, we'd like to express our thoughts and concern for those affected directly by the flooding and evacuations. Large portions of the highways have been covered by water, mud and in some cases washed away. In effect, completely cutting off road travel from Vancouver to the rest of Canada for an indeterminate amount of time.
But Biktrix, you are in Saskatoon Saskatchewan, how does this situation affect you?
At Biktrix, we use overseas manufacturing facilities, and we ship our bikes and some parts from these facilities to Canada by sea. The port of call is Vancouver, British Columbia.
Once we receive it at port and customs have been cleared, we move our stock to our warehouse in Delta, BC, which is part of Vancouver. From there we load up trucks and bring them to Saskatoon.
That last bit is the challenge right now.
So how will this affect our customers?
This is an evolving situation. As mentioned above, we don’t yet know what the long-term state of trucking out of Vancouver will be. We are working on plans to mitigate as many delays as we can.
For the most immediately affected orders, we are flying a mechanic from Saskatoon to Vancouver to work with our Showroom Mechanic at the Vancouver location to build and process orders from there that would normally come to Saskatoon. We will ship these by air to customers. We will reach out to these customers and let you know the updated timeline for delivery.
We did receive two full truckloads last week and have many bikes already in Saskatoon at our facility to work from.
Big picture, this will only delay a handful of orders for the time being.
We will continue to monitor the situation and adapt as it evolves.
Thank you for your ongoing patience and support.
